What hair density is best/recommend on a lace wig?

Posted on 2019-08-16

When refer to a certain hair lace product like lace closure, frontal, wig we always talk about the Density 130%, 150%, 180%. Today we want to talk about the wig density.

what doest Density means?

Naturally growing hair grows differently for every person. Hair can grown thin (light) around he perimeter (hairline) and think(medium) in the middle. Hair can also grown thick (medium) around the perimeter(hairline) and thickest (heavy) in the middle . In short, density means how much hair within a certain skin area.

Human hair density per square inch

It is tough to determine the accurate quantity of human hair thickness. If we count one by one strand, it would probably take forever. In the past, scientists roughly calculated hair density by plucking the strands around a certain skin area. Scientists around the world have developed a so-called hair density chart so that they can determine the level of hair thickness.

Below is a Hair density Chart that you can use as a visual guide.

Gradually, hair manufacturers found the hair density chart and produce the wig according to the Density chart.
Wig Density is defined as how thick or how thin the hair on your lace wig will be. However, it is difficult to define the density by visual look because the density depends more on the hair length, wave, curl, color and so on. For example, if you style a straight wig to a deep wave it seems like the deep wave wig looks thinner density but actually it’s always the same wig. Eventually manufactures got to know the estimate weight for different length and different density according to the past produce experience. So today we descrip hair thickness with its weight which is more specific.(The weight is just estimate not accurate)
